Origins

As soon as one comes out of the Puzzola forest, one finds the vines of San Piero in Campo, Gioiosa and Wandanna, areas where the vines flourish since the most antique times. This is being certified by numerous archives, out of which the oldest dates since ‘846 and offers clear reference to the winemaking in this area.
Starting from the ninth century, as per the historical records, Montecarlo has a history of cultivating the vines, a millennium before its wines are being appreciated by the Medici Family and the Savoia house and are receiving one of the first AOCs (registered designations of origin), in 1969.
vinum puro, a tertiam vices uba legittime calcata, et inde vinata
G. Vasari Municipium Montis Caroli

The 70’s

The 90’s
In 1987 Ivaldo Fantozzi takes over Wandanna and this marks the amplification of the vines as well as the computerisation of the winery, the first of its kind in Montecarlo.

Wandanna - The Story

The Fantozzi Family

Tuscan family with roots in Montecarlo for centuries, the Fantozzi’s have always been into trade as per the annals, both public and privat. They were particularly involved into wine trade, starting with Ulisse Fantozzi, until his son Gino, followed by his nephew Dr. Ivaldo Fantozzi became wine producer, too. Today the family tradition is being carried on by Ivaldo’s wife, Giovanna, his daughter, Laura, and his son, Vittorio.
